Railroad Locomotive:This 1:32 scale model of the EMD SW 1500 locomotive is part of "The Railroad Locomotive project," an open-source initiative aimed at bringing more free model trains to the world. The designer, who has prior experience with 3D printing projects, wanted to create a train model with greater attention to detail. After visiting a model train store in Stockholm and discussing options, the designer decided on the EMD SW 1500.The design process involved searching for specifications, drawings, and photos. As the designer did not find the level of detail they were initially seeking in drawings, they relied heavily on photos to create the model. Some details may be incorrect as a result. Everything on the model is 3D-printed except for the handrails, which are made from 1.5mm aluminum welding rods. There are some details that still need to be addressed, but with 3D printing and assembly, it is possible to create a 1:32 scale EMD SW 1500.
