Back in the early days of aviation, the Gee Bee Racer was the fastest thing in the sky. A big radial engine, tiny wings, and a short fuselage gave it speed second to none.
It payed a price for that speed though, as its poor handling earned it a reputation as a death trap for all but the best racing pilots.
