The Dornier Do 335 “Pfeil” (“Arrow” in German), company designation P 231, was an experimental[2] twin-engine, low-wing multi-role heavy fighter produced by Germany's Dornier-Werke GmbH in 1943.Designed as a high-speed fighter, it represented the pinnacle of piston-powered aircraft design: despite its considerable weight (more than 10 tons fully loaded), thanks to its two Daimler-Benz DB 603 engines it reached 750 km/h at an altitude of 6400 meters, and was the fastest German piston-powered aircraft of World War II.
