Analemma Teaching Aid

A simple model that illustrates the effect of Earth's axial tilt on the analemma, giving the Sun apparent longitudinal and latitudinal motion.

The sphere is the celestial sphere. The peg at top is the north celestial pole. The horizontal ring represents the celestial equator, along which the Sun would travel annually if the Earth's axis was not tilted. The tilted ring represents the ecliptic, which shows the apparent annual path of the sun, as it is with our present axial tilt.
