In her hands, the cold, familiar weight of an assault rifle felt less like a weapon and more like an anchor to the only purpose she had left. They had called it "synchronization," but it felt like a slow, methodical erasure. Every whir of a servo, every pulse of light along the conduits on her suit, was another fragment of her humanity
