This thing is a small electronics enclosure.
It is designed to hold a small hobby 45mmx45mm PCB that you can use to add small circuits to your project. In my case, I needed two small circuits to control fans on my Mini Kossel. Rather than buy something, I created my own, printed it and mounted it on my Mini Kossel.
