The Transformation of Lady Luminara

This sculpture was found on a Kickapoo burial site and is the only archeological sacred relic found in the Americas to have distinctly asiatic features. After its unearthing in 1897, it was held in the private collection of June Barbarecht, theosophist and mistress to railroad tycoon James J Hill.

Art historians suggest that the womanly figure depicted in the sculpture is that of Lady Luminara, legendary figure in the history of the Zhenla Kingdom, ca. 621–565 B.C.. Her suicide out of shame f
