This is a 3D model of a superegg. It's a mathematically defined solid made by revolving a superellipse. It has zero curvature at its tips, which means it can stand upright on its ends. It was invented by the brilliant poet and scientist Piet Hein as an answer to adding the interest of circularity to the practicality of rectilinear shapes.
