These are manipulatives that were made to assist a person with fine motor deficits. This person had difficulty pulling the commercially purchased materials apart. In order to have that person use manipulatives that were similar to their peers, I designed these cubes to be about 70% larger. I included internal geometry to strengthen the peg at the top. Without the internal geometry, the pegs snapped off pretty easily. The peg uses a fuzzy skin and will be very difficult to put connect; however, after you push them together, twist them back and forth. This will knock down the fuzzy skin and provide just enough friction to keep the cubes together, but not too much to make it difficult to pull apart. The more you twist the cubes the easier that they will be to pull apart.
