I have an Ender-3 with a top mounted stock spool holder, which I had no issues with, while printing with PLA. However, with TPU there was a lot of tension on the filament, which caused too much scraping at the extruder intake and sometimes resulted in extruder skip. I had to yank down a bunch of filament from the spool so that it could freely flow into the extruder and then wind back the unused filament at the end of the print.
That's when I decided I need a better way to mount my spools, so that I could feed the filament from the side of the printer. So, I started looking for a printable spool holder mount. Rest assured, there were 100s of them out there already. But I also, have spools of different sizes and certainly didn't want to print a mount for each size. So, I started looking for adjustable spool holders. Again, 100s of designs out there. With elaborate moving parts, Screws, bearings and what not.
Then I decided, to design my own and after a couple of iteration, I ended
