AFM tip apex with nanoparticles

It has been demonstrated that the deposition of small nanoparticles on a tip apex enhances drastically the resolution in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) imaging and enhances the life-time of the tip.
This is a representation of the tip apex covered by small nanoparticles of about 2-3 nm diameter.
