African Queen

The Black women is the mother of humanity based on the earliest bones being found in ethiopia. However, Black women aren't often recognozed as such. This quote from Malcolm X captures their experiences.

"The most disrespected person in America is the black woman.
The most unprotected person in America is the black woman.
The most neglected person in America is the black woman."

Even though most of the focus in terms of race is focused on black men. The candle represents black womens strength and vulnerabilities. Because racism, sexism, and social injustice continue to exist. The burning of the candle represents the degradation of our souls and the pain that racial marginalized people feel.
