I snagged an Alienware Alpha for a great price, but unfortunately it had extremely poor reception where I located the unit, to where I did not have a consistent signal. I removed the built in antennas from the unit and positioned them outside, which helped somewhat, but still not good enough.
However, I had recently purchased a Monoprice Maker Select Mini... a solution presents itself. I ordered two 15cm MHF4 RP-SMA pigtails, and some antennas from an old dual band router, and here we are. Signal is vastly improved - where the stock antennas had no reception, I've got rock solid reception.
**Parts**
* [Pigtails.](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UTTBN3A) Anything similar should work so long as they are MHF4 and at least 15cm/6" long.
* [Antennas.](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RO6RX4E) Not the exact ones I used, but same rating. Ensure if you pick your own that they are dual band - I tried some old 2.4ghz high gain antennas and got very poor 5ghz reception.
