I have dozens of allen wrenches lying around, slavaged from ikea and other furniture screw kits. And I had this nice 2.5 mm allen wrench by wiha I really like to use when tinkering. So I decided to make a similar design to reuse those salvaged wrenches.
First I wanted to cut the wrenches to fit really plain into the case, but I then experienced the benefit of having a lever to tighten screws with.
The red cap snaps into place and spins freely when screwing, so you can balance the wrench while working pretty good.
I made several stl for 1.5 2 3 4 and 5 mm caps.
I also added the fusion 360 files so you can edit the design to fit your wrenches with 2 parameters:
key_size for the allen wrench size, I used additional 0.1 mm clearance
key_radius for the bent radius to fit into the case
I also added a cavity to allow ± 0.5 mm as the radius is not easy to measure exactly. Don't forget to add half of the wrench size here, the radius is designed to be in the mi
