This is a case for a bare meter movement that you can buy on Amazon. There seem to be a lot of these meters of this size available, but this is the one that I used:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NQ84IG0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The meter is pretty simple - just connect + and - leads. I used these binding posts:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PFMD1N2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also used two 1N5817 diodes in an anti-parallel connection across the meter connections to limit the voltage applied to the meter to prevent overdriving it. I also put a rocker switch in to short the + and - inputs, which will electrically remove the meter from the connection. Because this is a shunt "1" on the switch disables the ammeter, and "0" on the switch enables the meter. I used a switch that I had on hand, but this is a standard size that will fit in a 19x12.5 opening, similar to this:
