In my journey to learn more about 3D printing and CAD design I decided to tackle a fairly simple rocket project. My kids and I enjoy launching model rockets so I figured I might as well design, 3D print and launch my own creation.
This rocket consists of simple design components that will allow you to customize the length of the rocket. The configuration that I have tested is as follows:
2x Rocket Body
2x Launch Lug Coupler
1x Quad Stabilizer Body
4x Motor Mount Truss
1x Motor Mount Upper Ring
1x Motor Mount Lower Ring
1x Nose Cone
1x Shock Cord Mount
Assembled using CA glue.
You will need to supply your own parachute and shock cord. I would suggest a 12" diameter parachute.
My suggestion for rocket motors are (Estes) B6-4 or C6-3. This rocket with motor weights roughly 120 grams. The B6-4 motor will launch the above configuration roughly 100 feet. The C6-3 will reach altitudes closer to 300 feet.
All parts printed with 20 percent infill.
