Animal Chess (鬥獸棋) is an ancient Chinese board game with a somewhat obscure history. The game features eight animals—elephant, lion, tiger, leopard, wolf, dog, cat, and mouse—each with different strengths and movements. For my design, I fused the animal faces with Hannya mask elements and dressed them in traditional Japanese armor, creating a unique cultural and artistic hybrid.
