I studied with Ann Hamilton at UCSB in the late 80's and I have always loved this picture of her by Bob DeBris from that time. I actually set out this morning to try to model the whole image of her but had problems with the hands and the head of twitches. I decided to pull it back to a simpler object so that's how I happened upon the idea of just making it a vase for dry grasses.

I have not poured water into it and I am sure it would hold liquid but I am worried it would tip over. I thought the feet were totally flat but it tends to lean back so I just sanded down the front soles a little. I also painted the exposed legs with an off-white nail polish.
