GoalI wanted to place my Aqara temperature sensor outside, so I can obtain outdoor readings in Home Assistant. The aim of the holder is to protect from water, reduce solar gain and allow plenty of airflow to aid accurate readings. DesignI used an open louve design to allow for airflow. The base has a chimney vent and the sensor is held lightly in ‘fingers’ to minimise contact with the body and hold it in free air. This allows for easy access and battery change. The lid is a loose fit for the same reason. The base has a vertical opening for airflow and the 4 holes allow for mounting using for various brackets. I have a ground stake, post mount and wall bracket on the way! The design prints in 3 parts and uses snap fits to assemble, with no tools or hardware. PrintingPrinted on my P1S, the louvres bridge nicely with no support required! AutomationNothing to do with the model, but now this is installed, I can use Home Assistant to tell me what is happening to the local outside temperature.
