This is the sensor shield which provides convenient break-outs for the Arduino's analog and digital I/O pins. Measurements taken from the board as made by Sain Smart. Note that if you instead buy it from arduino-direct.com it will come with the cables that fit into the connectors, which is quite handy. Note that the headers are offset and non-stacking. I have since de-soldered and resoldered stacking headers onto these shields. Actually, rather than ever buying these again, I prefer to buy the Adafruit Proto shield: http://www.adafruit.com/products/51 -- but instead of soldering on short headers with the kit, I use stacking headers. Or I like the Freetronics Eleven with its prototyping area: http://www.freetronics.com/products/eleven This "sensor shield" was cute when it was for my first project. Now? I would rather use one of those other shields an instead solder on the connectors I need. Like here: https://forum.sparkfun.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=36254 Edited to add: If you do as I did and de-solder the offset header pins, note that you might disconnect the top from the bottom of the PCB... they're not connected via the holes but by traces on only one side of the PCB. :P
