The [ABC](http://ds-wordpress.haverford.edu/bitbybit/bit-by-bit-contents/chapter-four/4-6-the-atanasoff-berry-computer/#pg116) is recognized as the first computing device to calculate using electrons (via vacuum tubes)... Technically, the prototype device he demonstrated was first, but you know what I mean.
The work of Konrad Zuse took place around the same time, but his devices were electro-mechanical, using relays to do calculations. In comparing their contribution to computer history, Zuse's machines were more general purpose and flexible, and Atanasoff's machine was really only built for a single purpose. The ABC also used possibly the first example of dynamic RAM using capacitors to store data.

My model is based on the working replica built in the 1990s. Most photos I can find are of the era and all seem to show the same side perspective. Diagrams and photos of the original show a large transformer on the left rear portion of
