AX-88 Hammerhead

The Hammerhead saw constant use in the mercenary incursions on the outer rim in a variety of roles. Too big to operate as a fighter, not carrying enough ordnance to function as a bomber, and too little cargo to make a worthwhile freighter, the Hammerhead nevertheless saw use as a starship of all work - a useful small craft that was not quite a heavy fighter. Sadly their slow production rate - every ship hand-built - meant that lost Hammerheads could not be replaced on the rim and their numbers steadily declined as the conflict heated up.

Today Hammerheads - and their rarer Cutter variant, without the distinctive nose - are an uncommon sight, but their unique mix of size and capabilities makes them very popular with bounty hunters and law enforcement.
