The AZIDE hotend is intended as a replacement for Tech2C's Hypercube hotend and X carriage.
The AZIDE features more efficient part AND hotend cooling, allowing the user to replace the noisy stock fan with a Noctua 4020.

Its design came from my need to cool my hotend more efficiently, and cool my parts more evenly. As I am printing ABS in a heated volume, the stock E3D fan wasn't enough for my poor hotend.
This design obviously won't work if the user intends to print cooling-sensitive materials such as PET.
