I used 2 mm nails for the pins, and the drill the holes out to get it them nice and smooth The central needal/ indicator is optional. Without it , even the scale is balanced it could lean anyware. Adding more wieght to it maximises the self corection.I needed a brim on the ends of the long beams to maintain bed adhesion
