A puzzle created by John Devost and Jose Diaz and added here with their permission. Four pieces plus a 3-part frame go together to create a cube in a stand. This puzzle has a striking appearance when solved, when made in wood the cube is given a checkered look.
Printing this puzzle is easy if each piece is one color. All the pieces can be printed in one piece with no supports. These stl files are included ("pieces" and "frame").
Printing the checkered pieces is much more difficult. I use PuzzleCAD snap joints, but if you use too many joints they interfere with one another. The frame is the same and can be printed as before. The two files: WBW and BWB are designed to be printed with color changes at z values of the cubie size (15 mm) and twice the cubie size (30 mm). The parts then snap together to make the pieces. These parts need to be printed with supports. I have eliminated joint labels as they interfere with the supports. You need to figure out how to snap the part
