There are other tape splicing blocks out there, but I designed these with a slightly inverted flare in the tape groove in order to hold the tape down securely while working on it. That's it. They work.

I printed them in a bright contrasting color to make it easier to see when I've closed the gap between the two tape ends before applying the splicing tape.

Printing notes: I reduced the top solid infill to .25 in order to provide a smoother work surface, printed the top later at 1.5 mm to assure a nice heavy work surface (especially in the slots where a knife blade could wear on the block), and I used a .1mm layer thickness for a smoother x-axis finish in the tape groove.
