Hello everyone! I'd like to share a small project with a simple goal: to prevent a young child from opening bi-fold doors! I was exasperated that my child constantly opened the linen closet and emptied it completely every day. So, I thought about it for a bit and looked at what I had on hand, and I found a long dowel in my woodworking shop. The idea quickly came to me after that. It works very well! Obviously, you have to be quite tall to reach it, but that shouldn't be a problem for most people. The model shown is designed for a standard 1-3/8" thick door with a 3/4" dowel. I'm providing the Fusion file, which will allow you to modify the parameters to suit your needs. I've added an "offset" parameter that allows you to move the hole further away from the door. This way, the stud can be inserted and removed without obstruction. You could also reduce the offset and double the number of items to fit two per door if you want to lock the doors individually.
