I recently acquired a 3D printer. This is my third project. I wanted to make a nice looking bird feeder. I also wanted to assemble it without requiring screws or glue and with very minimal supports created during printing. I think I've done it!
I used acrylic panels for the sides of the feed bin. Each one is 3.5 inches by 4.5 inches (89mm x 114mm). No more than 2mm thick. I did run into some difficulty cutting these. I was trying to cut off a piece 18x3.5 inches from a 18x24 inch sheet. I scored the panel and tried to snap them off but ended up cracking some. Cutting the long piece into 4.5 inch panels worked well.
If you want to print your own instead of using the acrylic, I've provided an STL file for that. Best results would be obtained if you can use a clear (translucent) filament so that you can see the feed level. They won't be clear but at least you can see through them. The panel is only 0.6mm thick with a 2mm thick f
