Black & White Key Tray

This key tray brings function and fascination together. At first glance, it appears to bulge outward in a striking curved pattern—but the surface is completely flat. The effect comes from the bulge illusion (or radial distortion illusion), created by carefully arranged black-and-white squares that trick the eye into seeing depth where there is none. Sized at 218 mm in diameter and 18 mm tall, the tray is large enough to hold your keys, wallet, and everyday carry items while doubling as an eye-catching conversation piece. Place it by the door, on a desk, or anywhere you’d like a practical spot that also sparks curiosity. For the sample prints, I've used Bambu Lab Matte Charcoal (11101) and Bambu Lab Matte Ivory White (11100) filaments to maximize the contrast and enhance the illusion's impact. Feel free to experiment with different color combinations to suit your personal style or match your existing décor.
