So I've been meaning to make a nozzle for a while but all the ones I could find seemed too bulky for my kossel. So obviously I made one myself that is designed to be used with the 4010s fan which I picked up off ebay for £2.99.
This fan is 40mm x 40mm x 10mm and blows air out the side which I then simply funnel towards the tip of my extruder.
The fan press fits and screws (extra stability) into the part which is then screwed into the lower holes of the existing fan on the extruder. There is no need to dismantle the hot end or re calibrate. It just bolts on and works.
The nozzle drops from about a 8 x 28mm slot to roughly a 2.5 x 14mm slot. The amount of air coming out seems to be more than adequate so far. It is designed to get the most out of the little fan by not disturbing the direction of flow too much. A lot of designs seem to have complicated airflow passages which I can only imagine reduces their efficiency. Simple is best I think. The main factor driving cooling is the ve
