The Bloxel is a construction block based on the Pixel. Its three dimensional counterpart the Voxel is a digital version of a multipurpose construction block. 3D printers are being utilized in more classrooms around the world today. Children are being exposed to 3D printers as early as grade school. Printing Bloxels, one can print in almost any color and modify final prints to provide learning possibilities unheard of before. There is no limit on what you can make with a set of Bloxels. Teachers can help explain to kids the concepts of 3D space and Design. Bloxels offer an opportunity for simple lesson plans based on ideas that may come across as complicated to children. The inner workings of digital images can be confusing to children but, different colored Bloxels can be used to mock up a large image piece by piece as an interactive way of teaching young children. The introduction of how 3D space operates on X, Y, and Z coordinates with the help of 3D sculptures made from the Bloxels is fast and intuitive learning process. Teachers can add other elements to enhance the learning experience. Items can be 3D printed or store bought, such as dowels, string, rubber bands, wheels, gears, and pulleys will yield fascinating objects for children to experiment with as they explore the tactile feel of Bloxels. Whether it is a pixel based image, or rubber band powered cars; school children can enjoy learning based on experience as well as instruction.
