This is one of two submissions of mine for the e-NABLE Modular Prosthetic Terminal Device Challenge. Every part can be 3d printed without added supports. Although there are only three fingers total for ease of use, there are sections cut out of some to give the illusion of having five, and to cut down on material use. Rather than having one specific use in mind, this device is meant to be clamped on to other devices, such as cups and rackets. To do so, the nuts and bolts on each finger and knuckle can be tightened or loosened, applying varying pressure to each joint and effectively locking them in place. Although this mechanism is heavier and may require parts which have not been 3d printed, depending on the capabilities of the 3d printer and slicer, it is significantly more durable than the one in my other submission. This hand is ambidextrous, meaning it can work in place of either the right or left hand. Glue may be added to the thumb bolt wheel to prevent it from slipping off during use. The CAD files of the bolts and nuts used in the STEP and IGES files are from the McMaster-Carr website. All STL files are oriented for a z-up-oriented slicer. In addition to the 3d printed parts published here, each device requires (some of these may be printable): 2x M3x0.5 Wing Nuts 4x M5x0.8 Wing Nuts 2x 30mm M3x0.5 Screws 1x 4mm M5x0.8 Hex Nut 5x 45mm M5x0.8 Screws 1x M10x1.5 Wing Nut 1x 90mm M10x1.5 Screw 6x 2.4mm M3x0.5 Hex Nuts 6x 16mm M3x0.5 Screws 1x 25mm M10x1.5 Screw (to mate with the ICRC wrist unit. I have successfully 3d printed this screw)
