The standard thermostat usually brakes because of the nonrigid design.
The easy and safe way is to replace it with the cap shown.
To adjust the valve opening insert some 2 Euro cent coins.
Thereafter turn it as long as needed to feel the correct temperature of the heating.
Depending how many coins you need the overall cost will be between 4 to 10 Euro-Cents.
