The Backstory: "A Broken Vow" When the fracture split the sky, the Monks of the Golden Lattice did not run. They gathered on the highest spires of their monastery, attempting to channel their collective spiritual energy to weave reality back together. It was a catastrophic failure. Instead of fixing the tear, the raw, unfiltered power of the Breach backfired through their spiritual network. In an instant, Kaelen watched his masters and brothers turn to ash, their souls torn apart by the slow unraveling. Kaelen only survived because he was knocked unconscious, falling into the catacombs below. When he woke, his gods were silent. His monastery was a smoking ruin. The divine energy he had spent a lifetime cultivating was gone, replaced by a cold, volatile hum deep within his chest. Stripping away his formal religious vestments, he swore a final, dark vow: if the gods wouldn't close the Breach, he would choke it with the bodies of the monsters that emerged from it.
