When I'm buffing small items, I was getting the polish compound and the wheel shreds flung all around my shop. I didn't need 360° access to the wheel like when working on a large item. I thought some guards (shrouds?) would help with containing the mess. I noticed the Central Machinery buffer has 3 tapped holes on each end that turned out to be 1/4-20 threads. Using those tapped holes, I made these guards that bolt on.
I have a left and right hand version of this for each side. The shim moves the guard over the wheel more.
I also made up a left and right had version that has an "exhaust" port and included an adapter that allows you to connect a 2 1/2" shop vacuum to it.
The Shim and basic guards do not require support. The guards withe the exhaust port and the adapter do require support.
These will fit on a 220mm x 220mm print bed.
You will need some 1/4-20 x 1" bolts to attach. Be sure to clean the tapped holes first, likely some polish compound found its way in.
