The last step of my filament calibration is to set shrinkage and to do that I use a simple 100 mm bar, measure it and enter the measurement as the ‘shrinkage’ (it works, really!). Printing a simple bar is quick and doesn't take much filament—why not add a few extra checks? 38 minutes and 13 grams is all it takes to have a check print. Of course, that snowballed and the simple calibration bar now lets you look at a number of things! Reminder: This is the last step of filament calibration for me, it's verification. There are a ton of models that will help with determining the various settings, I do all of those before I print a Calibar. Well, that's not quite true. I'll also print a Calibar for new filaments to see if I can get away with the defaulty profiles, and anytime my quality takes a dive. For best results, use a smooth build plate. We're going to be looking at the bottom of the print!• Shrinkage—measure the long axis being careful to put your calipers so they
