The project was based on the model designed by IU+ Design, winner of the Red Dot Design Concept Award. Unfortunately, it never made it to production, so I decided to create it myself, optimizing the design for the small Bambulab A1 mini and using components easily available online (lens and steel ruler).
Designed with Autodesk Fusion 360, rendered with Keyshot, and finally printed with the Bambulab A1 mini in PLA.
For additional components, I used a steel ruler available at this link_1, which has dual metric/imperial readings for those who prefer to use one system over the other. The other component used is a plano-convex lens available at this link_2 , which serves as a lens for easier reading of the measurement.
Assembly is quite simple: the steel ruler is pressed into place without glue, then the lens is placed on the slider and secured with the ring using a few drops of glue.
It may not slide freely at first, but by moving it back and forth a few times, it becomes smoother.
I hope
