This base and capacitor is used in a physics lab that explores charging of capacitors and in which students calculate the value of the capacitor.
I created this base to hold the capacitor and to allow connecting it into a circuit using banana plugs. Before this we were just using "alligator" clips and I found the capacitors legs would end up getting bent over and over. The capacitance seemed to change, posibly because of the stress placed on the leads. This relieves the stress and is just more elegant and makes loosing the caps a little more difficult.
I made the bases stack so that they are easy to store. They fit side by side and stack 3 high in a standard 6" wide cardboard storage bin.
## Parts
The capacitor is a 4700uF 16V Aluminum Electolytic with a 20% tolerance.
- Digi-key (Canada) part number [1572-1162-ND](https://www.digikey.ca/products/en?keywords=1572-1162-nd).
The banana plugs are simple short versions to keep the height down.
