This compass is based on the one held by Steve Rogers in The First Avenger. This is based on a lensatic compass used by Army Engineering during WWII. This is just a toy/prop compass and will not work as an actual compass.
For the smaller parts I'd recommend printing on a raft. For the axles I'd use a cut metal rod or brass brad to hold the other parts together.
