Cascading Hardware Storage Container

This is a hardware storage container that has three levels of storage which cascade in a smooth motion driven by the opening or closing of the lid. I created this model because I was bothered by the too frequent opening and closing of drawers when using a traditional container to sort hardware. Instead, this organizer expands to reveal all drawers in the time it would normally take to open one. The mechanisms behind this design are an essential component to its function. The bottom level of storage is actuated by a 4 bar linkage, and assisted by a center-fixed rocker piece that reverses the pulling motion into pushing, opening the drawer. The top level of storage is actuated by a scotch yoke mechanism, which uses a pin and slot to convert the hinge of the lid opening into linear pulling force.
