Cat Rover

Cat Rover is a Raspberry Pi based three wheel droid that is controlled over Wi-Fi and a custom made web frontend that aims to be low latency and simple to use. The droid has two ST28 stepper motors with drivers, USB web camera and room for a battery. The front wheel is a non-rotating wheel attached to a rotating support. If you instead have a rotating wheel already, you can simply screw it to the base structure directly. I think pre-made front wheel is essential because it has to be so low friction, so metallic parts help. The wheels I used are at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:862438 but you can use different wheels. You can attach components to the base structure by screwing to it or using cable ties. The front of the car has locations for two copper tapes, which can be used with a charger dock that is included. The dock has holes where you can hot glue two springs and connect those to a charger that is applicable to the battery in use.
