We have a few chairs with steel rods on the bottom,
they have these gliders around them to prevent any
scratching. They were made out of not very
flexible plastic so some of them broke over time.
Our chairs have a 10mm rod on the bottom, but you can scale them
to fit your chair.
I would not use filament which is very flexible, semiflex is a better choice.
