I wanted to build a cheap media server (Samba and DLNA). I had a HDD with USB adapter and Orange Pi Zero. I quickly installed Open Media Vault which was perfect for my needs. The only drawback is the low transfers via the 10/100 LAN port in Orange PI Zero (max. 11 MB / s). So I bought Orange Pi Zero Plus which has a 10/100/1000 LAN port and now transfers are 34 MB / s which is satisfactory.
I quickly drew a simple housing, disk to reduce vibration and noise hung on the strips of an old printer or scanner, which are connected by ZIP strips, it is important that it works and you can hardly hear the disk. In addition, in the OMV configuration in the SMART tab I turned on spindown after 5 minutes.
I left the project file in Designspark Mechanical when someone wanted to change something.
12.03.2020 - added na modified TOP v2 - it has modified air flow holes
