Dry Storage for Filament Spools — the most effective and most efficient solution This is the most effective and most efficient solution I've been able to come up with. It uses very few materials, it's quick to set up, and all it needs is a bag, your print materials, and a little bit of tape. How it works It's an assembly of several parts. The spool sits on its axle, and the axle sits in the frame. The axle turns freely inside the frame with no resistance, so the spool unwinds smoothly while printing. The whole thing slides into a bag, the filament feeds out through it, and you seal it up. In use I recommend putting silica inside. It does two jobs: it keeps the humidity as low as possible, and it adds weight — which helps, because as the spool empties the whole setup gets very light. With the silica in there, I've managed to hold a very low humidity level for several days, somewhere around 10% or below. In short Few materials, quick to set up, next to no cost, and real long-term humidity control. It's hard to get simpler or more effective than this.
