The Claddagh is an ancient symbol that is used to tell announce to others whether your heart is available or taken. If the point of the heart faces out, you are saying you're looking for a partner. If the point of the heart points to you, you are indicating your heart is taken. I can't promise this will eliminate all awkwardness in social scenes, in fact I'm sure it won't, but it could help eliminate a few extra awkward “So, you seeing anyone?” conversations.
