This is the second thing I've designed for 3d printing.
It is more of a proof of concept, not lasting very long, you could improve things by adding a gear ratio and optimising the wind-up spring. All the cogs are on one central axis making it more compact than other designs. There is also definitely room to make the design more compact. This isn't a finalised design but it works and it's 100% worth the print.
This mechanism uses a 1.6mm diameter brass rod cut into 3 separate lengths. Careful use of a heat source may be required to melt these rods into some holes.
Some sanding of the teeth on the windup gear may be necessary to allow it to be wound.
