This model was inspired by an umbrella that spins in the wind because the clamping screw is rusted in place, the umbrella post is loose in the stand, and I just wanted something simple to help hold it in place better. I saw someone else's parametric model for the umbrella stand adapter, but I didn't think it would do the job I needed. So I collaborated with ChatGPT and learned a lot about parametric modeling. Behold the compression collar! This works way better than I originally imagined, although I haven't yet fully weather tested it. But it does a great job of gripping the post through the simple compression design. It would probably be stronger printed on an angle with a support, but I don't think the cutouts would be as well defined, and the visible part of the collar looks better this way :)PETG would probably be better for most applications, but I printed this in PLA silk and functionally it works.
