Compression Spring - Alternative to Coil Spring

Welcome to my compression spring page!

I was looking at a way of engineering a spring that would work in coil spring applications and this is what I came up with.

The spring is in 2 halves and can be printed lying down using supports.
I have printed this at 66% size and it takes about 3kg of weight before running out of spring travel.

The spring design is experimental so I can't guarantee how long it will last. It does suffer from some deformation when first compressed (so has been oversized to fit the sleeve). After initial compression, it seems to perform quite well.

There is nothing stopping you designing your own springs to fit inside this modular design.
