Control4's original 6 button keypad was in a 3x2 configuration. The removable keys sit inside a thin plastic grid which in turn presses into the metal face of the device. A Lutron-stype faceplate goes on top.
The grid insert, being in constant contact with the warm aluminum heatsink of the device, can become brittle a decade or so in. This design is my replacement for it.
I printed it in PLA with supports under the long sides. I printed it with the front facing down on the build plate for a couple of reasons. First there is a step inside each of the 6 key holes so the front face is very slightly narrower than the back. Second, the space behind the grid is open and if printed front face up I'd have needed supports under the very very thing grid. I wasn't confident that the supports would release without breaking the grid.
