Up to 1 billion birds die annually in the U.S. because they collide with windows (https://abcbirds.org/glass-collisions/ ). Birds do not perceive windows as solid surfaces but fly toward openings or reflected images of sky and trees. Breaking up the reflection on the exterior of the glass prevents many bird fatalities. Saving only 5% from these crashes would allow up to 50 million birds to survive annually.
This instructable provides an alternative method to affix Acopian BirdSavers to your window area. Jeff Acopian created BirdSavers, an assembly of #550 paracords, to provide an easy, inexpensive, and long-lasting protection against window collisions. The paracords are spaced about 4” apart and hung vertically from the top edge of a window, typically using sheet metal screws, or cable clamps, or outdoor light clips, (see https://www.birdsavers.com/using-paracord/ ).
